Justin Herrera
Pastoral team, football school coach, children’s Bible teacher, logistics · 20 years old
My story
My name is Justin Herrera. I am 20 years old and I serve full time. I am being trained on the pastoral team and I teach children and adults in the mountains of Honduras. Everything I do is focused on serving so that the gospel is shared in a pure way, setting an example with my own life.
I am a young missionary without financial support. We serve according to God’s will, trusting that he cares for his people. I am being trained in every area of my life, as a teacher, pastor and evangelist, so that I can later share what I learn with other people, churches and ministries in Honduras.
One of the newer ways we reach more people is social media. We have a YouTube channel, Instagram and Facebook, where we show with our lives that you can serve God and be part of the church while living a normal life. We work with what we have: no professional camera, no laptop, just a phone.
I am part of the team of football coaches in the mountains, and I am mainly responsible for the spiritual, emotional and relational side with the children and their families. I also work on the ministry’s logistics: transport and moving the materials each project needs. In 2024 the football school saw 30 confessions of faith in a deeply religious, mostly Catholic community. We are not there to disrupt the community; we are there to give the children a chance at a better future. Many of them work from a very young age and hardly think about how to improve their lives.
The mountain communities where we serve are very closed. After 16 years of continuous work alongside our pastor we have made real progress: little by little they have become more receptive to the gospel and to us. Now they share their lives with us, and we try to be as relational as possible to understand how they are doing emotionally, financially and in their health.
My plan is to serve full time freely, without the pressure of working to cover my needs; my goal is to become self-sustaining, which takes time, effort and dedication. I also hope to keep growing mentally and spiritually to be a better worker in the kingdom of heaven. You can get involved by visiting us and seeing first hand what we do, by praying for us constantly, and by telling others about what we are doing in Honduras with Catracho Missions.
